Meet Our New Sponsored Motocross Athlete Cody Briner
Cody Briner is a motocross athlete who knows how important it is to keep your body in its best condition. He has won the CMC Arizona Championship 3 years in a row -450 Pro- and has been participating in the sport for about ten years. Cody’s grandfather introduced him to motocross and he has been hooked ever since.
For those who are not familiar with the sport, Cody says, “Motocross athletes always joke that it’s the “most physically demanding sport on the planet. “You’re on top of a 225lb machine trying to control it for 30 minutes. Your heart rate is well close to 200, and the track is constantly getting rougher making it both physically and mentally taxing.”
People unfamiliar with motocross might not realize that injuries in this sport can really impair one’s ability to compete. Cody tells us: “in motocross, you’re going to crash, it’s just trying to limit how often that happens. Most commonly I see broken bones (wrists, tib/fib, collar bone), but knee injuries are common as well, such as ACL tears. Concussions are also a big risk factor as you’re subject to hitting your head if you are not careful.”
Racing while injured or while nursing damaged tendons, joints, and ligaments can be tricky. Some people think they are “okay” in a sense but all they are really doing is hurting themselves more and pushing back their heal time. Cody’s philosophy is -if it hurts get it evaluated right away so you don’t do any more damage.
Cody has been seeing Noah for his physical therapy needs to prevent injury and improve his overall flexibility. Tight muscles and inflexible joints can lead to injury, and Cody is dedicated to making sure that he is in top condition to compete.
